When emotions run high, the way we respond can either calm a situation or intensify it. This Edcamp session focuses on practical de-escalation strategies, with an emphasis on using tone, language, and body cues to support students in moments of distress. Participants will share real-life experiences and explore techniques for staying regulated, building trust, and responding in ways that preserve dignity while maintaining safety. We’ll discuss common triggers, adult responses that help (or hinder), and ways to model calm communication in challenging situations. This is a collaborative, participant-driven conversation where all perspectives are welcome.
